FAQs

What would you like to know?

Do you do free consultations?

Yes, I do! I'm always interested in hearing your ideas, and I'm happy to take the time to find out how we can best work together. It's best to start the conversation by e-mailing me at info@amreid.ca to set up an appointment.

How much do you charge?

Most of my custom work will be priced individually, by the job or the piece. I don't have hourly rates for creative work. I will charge an hourly rate for administration or consulting. We can figure out what method of working would be appropriate during your free consultation. If we work together, I will be clear about the cost up front, and if a job changes scope so it will take significantly more work to complete, I will add that amount to the total. All fees and costs will appear on your invoice.

I don't have any budget for this project!

That's not actually a question, but if you're trying to keep your costs to a minimum, perhaps custom work is not your best option. I'm hoping to be able to offer royalty-free stock images soon. Why do you need a deposit?

Deposits help both of us. A down payment for my work helps pay for my time and skill, covers my expenses and establishes that you are serious about having me devote those things to your project. It also means that your payments are broken up into at least two instalments, which can help your cash flow.

Is the deposit refundable?

Sorry, no. The deposit for custom work is not refundable. See also, expenses and commitment. The deposit ensures my commitment to bringing the project to fruition. Once the project is complete and delivered, paying the balance indicates that you are happy with the work, and willing to keep your side of the agreement. If for some reason you are dissatisfied, I will do my very best to make it right for you before you pay any balance due. I do want to keep my clients happy!

Do I have to sign a contract?

If we will work together on custom projects, we will sign a contract clearly laying out the terms, timeline and costs. This protects both of us by making our agreement clear. Don't worry, it'll be a pretty basic document with as little legal jargon as we can manage.
